ASID NJ Chapter announced the winners of its 2016 Design Excellence Awards at a gala presentation in mid-June.

Interior designers were honored with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for projects in both residential and commercial/non-residential categories, as well as those focusing specifically on the principles of sustainable design and universal design. Each designer who was honored was the primary interior designer on record for the project.

Entries were judged by a panel of interior designers across the country who were Gold Award winners in their respective ASID chapters. The winning entries were judged to be strong in all of the following: fulfill the challenges of the project and enhance the human experience of the client/end user with thoughtful and good interior design; functional and creative use of space; scale and proportion; color and composition; creative use of materials; interesting details; and effective use of lighting.  Winners in the Sustainable Design and Universal Design categories had to meet additional specific criteria.

The New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID NJ) includes approximately 400 professional, allied and associate interior designers throughout the state, as well as Industry Partners and interior design students. Its parent organization, the American Society of Interior Designers, is a diverse group of professionals that includes interior designers and Industry Partners. The Society's 16,000 practicing interior designers are equally divided between commercial and residential design. All members of ASID must adhere to the Society's code of ethics and professional conduct, ensuring consumers respectful and professional conduct when they hire an ASID designer.
